Unpacking Lauryn's Law for School Counselors: Approaches to Prevention, Intervention, and Postvention

Spring 2021 Pop Up Professional Development 

This course is two Saturdays (9am - 11am) and is in alignment with House Bill 0947

Participants can earn either: 1 MSDE CPD Approved #19-67-14 or 15 National Board Certified Counselor Contact Hours (NBCC Approved Provider #3044)

  • Cost: $250.00 for non-members and $150.00 for members 
  • Date: Saturday, April 17th and Saturday, April 24th
  • Time: Two hours synchronous learning each day (9am-11am) and Eleven hours of asynchronous learning
  • Location: Online

day to cancel to receive a full refund.

Courses do not require approval by the MSDE to be applied toward the requirements established in COMAR. 

This course satisfies the Maryland State Legislation law HB 0947 and the COMAR regulation 13A.12.03.02 regarding school counselor certification/re-certification requiring that prior to the renewal or reinstatement of their current certificate, an educator certified as a school counselor shall provide coursework, professional development, or a continuing education unit required by COMAR regulation 13A.12.03.02 to address the need for intervention or referral in response to indicators of mental illness and behavioral distress including, but not limited to depression; trauma; violence; youth suicide; and substance abuse. This course for school counselors provides a current, interactive overview of these skills and supports participants’ development/acquisition of a resource bank for distribution to parents or guardians, school staff, and students, as appropriate.
