Unpacking Lauryn's Law for School Counselors: Approaches to Prevention, Intervention, and Postvention    (Session B)

  • Dates for Session B: Monday, August 8  and Tuesday, August 9th
  • Cost: $250 for Non-MSCA Members, $150 for MSCA Members
  • TimeThree hours synchronous learning each day (9am - 12pm), nine hours of asynchronous learning

This professional development is in alignment with House Bill 0947. Participants can earn either 1 MSDE CPD Approved #19-67-14 or 15 National Board Certified Counselor Contact Hours (NBCC Approved Provider #3044).

This course satisfies the Maryland State Legislation law HB 0947 and the COMAR regulation 13A.12.03.02 regarding school counselor certification/re-certification requiring that prior to the renewal or reinstatement of their current certificate, an educator certified as a school counselor shall provide coursework, professional development, or a continuing education unit required by COMAR regulation 13A.12.03.02 to address the need for intervention or referral in response to indicators of mental illness and behavioral distress including, but not limited to depression; trauma; violence; youth suicide; and substance abuse. This course for school counselors provides a current, interactive overview of these skills and supports participants’ development/acquisition of a resource bank for distribution to parents or guardians, school staff, and students, as appropriate.
